A rare cloudy day in Los Angeles.

 My mom and I took the pups for a hike early this morning before the rain hit. It was a grey, grey day. I always get confused with the spelling of gray- is it grAy or grEy? Or have I just been watching too much Grey’s Anatomy?

 Shelby’s attack on the gophers of Runyan Canyon continues… she still hasn’t won a battle:

Breakfast- 9:00AM

Protein Oats made with some cottage cheese (you can’t even taste it, but it makes the oats fluffy)

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/3 cup Coach’s Oats
  • pinch of chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup cottage cheese (stirred in at end)
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (stirred in at end)
  • 1 tablespoon Cookie Butter
  • Two grinds of Cinnamon and Sugar
  • Raspberries

Breakfast this morning had two special additions: Cookie Butter and Cinnamon and Sugar from Trader Joe’s. Cookie Butter has been circulating around the blog world for a few months now and Trader Joe’s sold out within a week. I’ve been waiting patiently for its return and couldn’t wait to try it. It tastes like a Biscoff cookie (the cookies they serve on airplanes) in a jar and it has the same nutrition stats as almond butter (score!). The Cinnamon and Sugar grinder is just an easy way to add some extra flavor to the oats.

Lunch – 1:30PM

We had meetings today, so we ordered out from BJ’s. I grabbed two slices of Vegetarian Pizza (at least it was whole wheat crust right?).

Snack – 4:00PM

A handful of chocolate covered pretzels to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Dinner – 7:30PM

Arctic Char (similar to Salmon) with a Blood Orange Sauce and Roasted Asparagus

Thai Style Brussels Sprouts (easy recipe I’ll post next week)

Cucumber, Avocado, Tomato Salad

Dessert – 8:00PM

The final slices of Papa Stanley’s Birthday Caramel Spice Cake. This one got better with age. I’m going to miss this tomorrow. My waistline will not.
