Make Your Own Lemon Sugar Scrub At Home

The harsh, cold winter months can leave skin dry, flaking, and itching for a refreshing spa treatment. With Valentines day right around the corner, going to the spa is typically on all of our minds. Single or not, looking and feeling good is something each woman deserves. However, as a busy woman, you may find yourself with limited time each day and an ever-increasing to-do list, which can make getting to the spa seem impossible. Fortunately, you can bring the benefits of a luxury spa experience home by creating your very own body scrub.

To make your own lemon sugar body scrub in the comfort of your own home, you will need:

  • A mixing bowl
  • three cups of sugar
  • three-fourths of a cup of olive oil
  • two tablespoons of vanilla extract
  • two lemons- for the juice and for zesting
  • A Mason jar or other container for storing

First start by filling a mixing bowl with three cups of sugar. Next, mix in the olive oil, vanilla extract, the zest from the two lemons, and the juice from one lemon with the sugar. Lastly, pour your mixture into your mason jar and you are finished. You may want to mix in the olive oil slowly, as you do not want the consistency of the mixture to be too soupy!

When you are ready to use the scrub, simply pour out the desired amount into your hand and smooth it all over the body in small circular motions. The sugar will work to exfoliate and smooth away dry, dead skin while the olive oil will soften the skin and add nourishment and moisture. The scent of fresh lemon will invigorate your senses, making the experience both functional and relaxing. The scrub should rinse off easily, leaving behind fresh, supple, renewed skin.

The sugar scrub mixture should be stored in a jar with a tight seal to preserve freshness. The quantity of ingredients can be scaled up or down according to preference to allow more or less of the lemon sugar scrub can be made at a time. After sealing the sugar scrub in a jar, the jar can be stored virtually anywhere, including in a bathroom linen closet until the next use.

Getting away for a day at the spa is a desire many women have, but may not be able to afford to go often. While taking time out for a spa treatment may be difficult with a busy schedule, by simply mixing a few common kitchen ingredients, women can treat themselves to a rejuvenating spa treatment without having to cram one more item onto their list of things to do away from home.
