Thanksgiving Recipe Round Up 2

Last year I shared some Turkey Day recipes  from around the web with you and I thought I would do the same thing this year! I’m not the biggest turkey fan unless it’s slathered in cranberry sauce or gravy, so Q and I are trying something different with our turkey this year. We are spatchcocking a turkey, which is basically breaking it down and roasting it on a baking sheet. I’ll let you know how it goes! Yesterday Q and I purchased our frozen turkey (a good rule of them is 2 pounds of turkey per person). Instead of taking up valuable freezer space until Tuesday when we defrost it, we decided to just keep it outside on our deck! It’s -6 out, so that pup is staying plenty cold out there until we need it! One perk of living in Alaska!

This Thanksgiving, Q and I are hosting about 6 people at our place. We are making some pretty traditional dishes and also doing some more “modern” recipes. For my desserts, we will have a pecan pie, but I also wanted to make a Pumpkin Crumb Cake and also some Caramel Apple Blondies instead of traditional pumpkin and apple pies! For our potatoes, I’m doing accordion potatoes for either my mashed or my sweet potatoes, I haven’t quite decided yet! Q and I are on our way to the store now to pick up all of our supplies, enjoy the round up and let me know what you end up making!

I’m impressed! Can’t wait to hear how it all goes down!

Also, I love the JTB podcast. 🙂

Do you listen to the Joy the Baker podcast? They were talking about spatchcocking a turkey this week, and it was the first time I ever heard of it! Maybe spatchcocking is the new deep fried turkey. At least it’s safer 🙂

This looks like quite a feast!

I listen occasionally, I have to download it! Q is the main meat cooker in the house, so I’m letting him handle that one haha!!!
