Dinner at Mercato Di Vetro

My first time to new Italian restaurant Mercato Di Vetro was on a Saturday night in January with 9:00PM reservations. My girlfriends and I waited for 45 minutes to be seated and the restaurant was PACKED. Once we were seated, the food was outstanding. That evening the restaurant was a 4 out of 5 stars solely because of the long wait to be seated. I wanted to give it another try, so I booked a reservation for a Sunday at 6PM. The hip and trendy crowd was gone and there was no wait for our great table overlooking the kitchen. And this time around it was a 5 out of 5 stars.

Impeccable service. Knowledgable waiters. Incredible food. Lots of flavor. It was a hit all the way around. I love the varied family style menu. From Kale crostini to delicious Hen of the Woods sauteed mushrooms, there was not one thing I didn’t like.

Kale Crostini topped with ricotta, pine nuts and currants

Stuffed and Fried Squash Blossoms served with Marinara Sauce

Burrata & Roasted Grapes with Brown Butter, Rosemary and Pine Nuts

Scallops with Brown Butter, Currants and Ricotta

Kale Pizza with Pecorino Romano

Dessert = Mini Glazed Doughnut Holes and Panna Cotta

My favorite dish here is the Burrata & Roasted Grapes- the pairing is to die for and the burrata is so fresh it melts in your mouth. The Kale Crostini and Kale Pizza are also both winners in my book (two completely different uses of kale, so I think it’s fine to order both). A dish that was not photographed, but worth a mention is the Lamb Bolognese: the perfect portion of homemade pasta with a filling meat sauce. From a girl who doesn’t normally love lamb, I loved this dish.

Shoes for the night = Jessica Simpson Collection

I cannot wait to return to Mercato di Vetro and give it 5 stars again. The ingredients are fresh and not overly cooked or greasy. The wait staff is so on their game and the vibe is great for a small family dinner or a night out with friends. The cocktail menu was good sized and the atmosphere was great.
