Learning to love the blue tint that snow and winter give everything.
And adjusting back to life at 10 degrees (which is warm compared to our -40 days!).
Loving our new French silverware, which we keep on permanent display on the dining room table.
Enjoying the first fresh colorful flowers that I’ve been able to find in Alaska in the winter time.
Eating the ripe avocados I stuffed in my suitcase from Los Angeles. There is truly nothing like a California avocado.
Trying to finish the hardest math class I’ve ever taken: College Algebra, in order to begin my Masters in 5 weeks. Do you remember what an imaginary number is? Or the eccentricity of an ellipse? It’s painfully difficult.
And enjoying the new tradition of reading a definition from The New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy every night at our dinner table. Q used to do this when he was growing up and I absolutely love it. It stimulates fascinating conversation and you learn about all sorts of different things from science to history to animals. It has made dinner time my favorite part of the day.
And I’m perfecting a fun Cookie Butter Blondie recipe for you! xoxo Happy Monday!

I love, love, love the word-a-day idea, my husband and I have a 3 year-old and his mind knows no satiation when it comes to attaining information. This will become a tradition in our house too! Thank you!
It is really amazing and something Q remembers so fondly doing as a kid. I think your 3-year-old will really love it! xoxo
I just finished a college algebra class and it it just about killed me (after 25 yrs of being out of school). Good luck!
SO HARD!!! Can’t wait to take this final and get it over with!
