So we had the best time ever visiting our friends Jen and Herman down in Anchorage. The drive was absolutely gorgeous – all snow capped mountains and trees with leaves changing colors. The beauty made 6 hours fly by. On Friday night, Q and I went on a date to a highly recommended restaurant, Simon & Seaforts. We were so happy to be eating delicious food again (no offense Fairbanks, but your restaurant selection isn’t great) and we loved taking in the scenery. On Saturday, Q played golf and I got to go shopping! I’ve never been more excited to be in a Gap store in my whole life. The four of us all went to the famous Moose’s Tooth for dinner (delicious pizza joint) and then went to sleep since we had a long drive on Sunday. We had one final meal at Spenard Roadhouse and were off. The weekend was quick, but memorable. Making friends in the military world is really a catch-22 because eventually one of you is going to move away. We were lucky our friends only moved 6-hours from us and we were able to spend some much needed time together!
And I apologize for only food and scenery pictures, we were having so much fun I forget to take out my camera!
This guy caught a huge moose (look at the antlers attached to his ATV). Only in Alaska…
First delicious meal in a while. We maybe overdid it on the ordering…
The second best part of the trip = TARGET!
Home sweet home (French bistro wine glasses my mom got us, I found them online here).

My cousin lives in Anchorage. She’s been there since 2009. I spent Christmas with her last year. Moose’s Tooth is a great local place!! At least in Fairbanks your chances of seeing the northern lights are much greater than anywhere else. Maybe that’s a trade off for the shopping and restaurants???!?!?? Glad you had a great time!
Alaska is on my bucket list. It’s so gorgeous. Glad y’all had fun!! And you know what? Army friends definitely are a Catch-22…but you will ALWAYS end up seeing true friends of your heart again. xoxo
