Q and I celebrated Valentine’s Day a few days early this year. There was really no reason for it, except I had the time to cook and Q was home early from work and we just thought “why not?” With no pressure and no fuss, it was the perfect celebration and only the second Valentine’s day we’ve spent with each other in person. The last one was 3 years ago when we were on our road trip from Los Angeles to Georgia and stopped in Sedona to celebrate (very romantic and relaxing).
So for our feast this year, I went back to my bread baking ways and made two Rosemary and Olive Oil loaves to make grilled cheeses with! I roughly used this recipe, but I’ll post my tweaks later this week!
And what goes best with grilled cheese? Tomato Soup! So I went back to one of my favorite recipes, Creamy Roasted Tomato Soup, and whipped this bad boy up. Just as delicious as I remember and although time consuming, a fairly easy recipe.
And then for dessert, I tried a new snickerdoodle recipe that uses brown butter. Q gave them the seal of approval!
Overall, a perfect meal with a perfect man. I loved our non-traditional Valentine’s dinner and enjoyed being able to spend some extra time with Q before he heads to training.

I think it’s so special to celebrate on a day you can/want rather than feel forced or pressured into doing it on Feb 14. With that said, happy Valentine’s day, Koko!

This may be the perfect meal. I am so impressed with your bread making skills; we are learning how to make bread next week, and I can’t wait! I will have to try your new snickerdoodle recipe.
