A Cold Weekend

in Weekend

It snowed today. It wasn’t a light dusting like before and it didn’t melt by noon like in the past. So it looks like this snow is a keeper.

Q and I had a busy weekend. I can hardly believe it’s already 7:30 on Sunday and the week starts again tomorrow. We made our own take on CPK’s Thai Chicken Pizza (our favorite dough, peanut sauce, chicken, carrots, cheese, scallions, peanuts) and it was our favorite pizza so far. We think we have finally nailed the perfect dough and cook time.

We went to the local hockey game (we are trying to make it a weekly ritual) and I forced Q to take this photo with me outside since the light was so pretty. He was less than enthused since it was 20 degrees out and he didn’t have his fleece on. I love him so much for putting up with my photo/blog antics.

My birthday’s in a couple of weeks and Q and I have never had the opportunity to celebrate it together (deployment, training, different states), so he has been going all out this month. It seems like everyday I wake up to a new present. The most recent ones? A new tripod and a 55 piece cupcake/cake decorating set. (I know, I scored a good one).

And after getting an awesome decorating set, I just HAD to bake cupcakes. This time I made Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes with Carmel filling and topped with Cream Cheese Frosting and Salted Carmel (I know, I went a little overboard). These suckers were amazing.

We are also getting in the routine of weekend waffle breakfasts. We had waffles, maple syrup, strawberries and I made some whipped cream. Perfect start to the weekend.

And today Q made mushroom, tomato and cheese omelettes and I heated up some Olive Oil and Rosemary bread that I made last week. I’ve been experimenting with bread a lot recently. I feel like I’ve mastered the cookie and the basics of baking and am ready for the next step. Baking bread is like science, there is SO much to it and I love that it challenges me. Once I have perfected my loaves expect some recipe posts!

We have a busy week: a lot of subbing, a few meetings for Q’s company, and then flying home to LA on Friday! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

When is your birthday? My hubby & I are both Nov babies. My youngest has his bday next Sunday. I need to get busy.

Food looks great! Wanna get stationed in Ft Huachuca and start a cooking club? ;)

Stay warm and best wishes!
